Why You Should Start Your Japan Trip at Nagoya Central Japan International Airport
If you want to travel to Japan, you should use Central Japan International Airport.
Unfortunately, many travelers use Tokyo's Narita, Haneda, and Kansai airports. This is because the Central Japan International Airport cannot compete with these airports in terms of the number of flights arriving and departing.
However, a frequent visitor to Japan from Asia recently said to me, "Central Japan International Airport is nice and empty. The other airports are very crowded and take a long time for everything". Yes, it is true. Nowadays, there is not much of a wait at Central Japan International Airport.
But that is not the only reason why you should choose Central Japan International Airport and Nagoya as the starting point of your trip.
Nagoya is Japan's hub
Nagoya is located in the middle of popular tourist destinations and is very convenient to go anywhere by train or highway. Take Kyoto, for example. To get to Kyoto from Kansai International Airport takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes by express train. From Chubu International Airport to Kyoto takes 1 hour and 30 minutes including a connection at Nagoya Station. Considering the congestion at Kansai International Airport, it can be faster to go to Kyoto from Central Japan International Airport.
Some visitors actually stay at hotels in Nagoya and visit Kyoto. It is a good idea considering the ease of hotel reservations and the price. It takes only 34 minutes from Nagoya Station to Kyoto Station.
